Sikkim flood toll rises to 44, list of missing doubles to 142

The death toll from the flash flood in North Sikkim has risen to 44, with six more bodies being found in neighbouring Bengal. The number of missing people has also increased to 142. Rescue attempts have been hindered by bad weather conditions, and families of the missing are anxiously waiting for news. The Sikkim government has announced compensation for the families of the deceased, and priority will be given to rescuing the elderly, infirm, and those needing medical assistance.
