SC to examine legislative immunity in bribe-for-vote

The Supreme Court Tuesday decided to examine whether lawmakers can claim complete immunity for their conduct in Parliament or assemblies even in case of taking bribe for voting. The court will take a call on its 1998 verdict in the JMM bribery case which said MPs can't be prosecuted for such acts.

SC slams trial courts for seeking needless custody

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed shock over some trial courts not complying with its July 2022 order to be liberal and grant bail to accused in cases when custody is not needed.
