Power, water sops in poll-bound Punjab

The Punjab cabinet on Monday decided to waive arrears of water supply charges in urban areas and pending electricity bills of rural water supply schemes in villages. The cabinet also announced a fixed monthly water user charge of Rs 50 across rural and urban parts of the state.

SC slams trial courts for seeking needless custody

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed shock over some trial courts not complying with its July 2022 order to be liberal and grant bail to accused in cases when custody is not needed.
