Cyclone Gulab live: IMD issues red alert for 7 Maha districts

Cyclone Gulab has fizzled into a depression but the system’s westward movement has resulted in a red alert for seven districts in Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting extremely heavy/heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations on Tuesday. In the wake of heavy rains, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday announced that all government offices, schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the state would remain closed on Tuesday. SC slams trial courts for seeking needless custody

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed shock over some trial courts not complying with its July 2022 order to be liberal and grant bail to accused in cases when custody is not needed.
