India celebrates best-ever day at Paralympics

The day's developments took India's total medal tally to 7, their best ever at a Paralympic Games, raising hopes of ushering in a revolution for differently-abled athletes in a country where even ramps for the disabled are a rarity in public places. At the Rio Games in 2016, India had won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, but increased government funding and a special focus on para athletes has paid off in spades this time around.

SC slams trial courts for seeking needless custody

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed shock over some trial courts not complying with its July 2022 order to be liberal and grant bail to accused in cases when custody is not needed.
