Covid: Govt releases Rs 7,200cr to get 3rd-wave-ready

The ministry is hopeful that all 1,755 PSA oxygen generating plants will get commissioned by the end of August. If oxygen plants to be set-up by PSUs are also taken into account, a total of 2,200 such plants will be functioning in the near future. At present, around 375 plants have been commissioned across states and 500 are at an advanced stage and likely to be set-up soon, official sources said.

SC slams trial courts for seeking needless custody

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed shock over some trial courts not complying with its July 2022 order to be liberal and grant bail to accused in cases when custody is not needed.
