Coronavirus live: Second wave death rate lower than first

Despite the high number of Covid-19 fatalities in recent months, the death rate in the second Covid wave in India remains lower than the first. However, the second-wave death rate is still climbing with states continuing to report a relatively high number of casualties and a few adding previous unacknowledged fatalities to the toll. SC slams trial courts for seeking needless custody

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed shock over some trial courts not complying with its July 2022 order to be liberal and grant bail to accused in cases when custody is not needed.
